Larry Tarof ("Dr. L") is an Ottawa-based musician with a loyal following within the Ottawa music scene. He has an established reputation for outstanding pop/musical theater arrangements, choral arrangements, live performances, and original compositions, and is well known as the busiest musical theater accompanist in the city. His growing body of original works (a hundred in the last three years alone) includes pop/rock, jazz, musical theater and sacred music. He is a seasoned, respected choir director (presently at Agudath Israel) and has done work for hundreds of clients in Canada and the U.S, including Mirvish Productions. A gigging musician, he has appeared live hundreds of times with piano, guitar and/or vocals. At the studio, he has produced hundreds of backup tracks, many demos and released two fully produced CDs ("Cupid 911" in 2004 and "Fearless" in 2005). "Dr. L" was profiled in 2005 on CJOH-TV's popular "Regional Contact" and has appeared at other times on television in Ottawa. He was an invited judge for the 2005 Ottawa Kiwanis Idol. He is presently doing musical direction with "Ain't Seen Noth'n Yet". He is presently involved with multiple original collaborations, including a new musical with Jenny Tarof (working title "Olympus", to be released 2006). The 'Dr.' is earned from a Ph.D. in semiconductor physics and a CEO stint in the high tech world. This eclectic background distinguishes him as uniquely multi-talented with producer/entrepreneurial/musicianship skills which enhance the reputation of his studio, "Dr L's Music".
